Audi Q7 jerking at low speeds and I’m trying to understand if this is the beginning of the end
My 2015 Q7 with the 3.0T has been a proper workhorse for the family runs to school and the odd trip to Dibba but lately when I’m crawling through the evening traffic on Al Wahda Street the transmission starts doing this weird thing where it feels like it can’t decide between first and second and then it’ll suddenly clunk into gear with a jolt that makes my wife grab the door handle and give me that look like I’ve just driven over a curb, and I can’t tell if it’s just the mechatronic unit acting up because of the heat or if the clutch packs are genuinely on their way out after 160k kilometers of UAE stop and go abuse. I had a guy plug in a basic scanner and it didn’t throw any hard codes just some intermittent communication faults that he cleared but the hesitation came right back two days later, and now I’m stuck in that awful limbo of knowing something isn’t right but not wanting to get fleeced for a full rebuild if it’s just a solenoid or a fluid flush issue. My brother in law keeps telling me to just go to the dealer in Dubai but honestly the thought of their diagnostic fee alone makes me want to cry, so I’ve been trying to find a place that actually knows Audi Automatic Gearbox Repair Sharjah without the premium markup just for the four rings on the grille. Anyone else dealt with this ZF 8HP hesitation on a higher mileage Audi and actually got it fixed without replacing the whole unit, because I’m trying to figure out if I should just start putting aside a few thousand dirhams now or if there’s a simpler fix I’m overlooking.
